Content no more

The little lady’s one year birthday has come and gone (many of you saw pictures on facebook….I didn’t take the time to blog…I know).  She has been just a little delight to our lives and is continuing to make us smile daily at the little personality we see coming through.  For months and months…and months she was the most contented little observer of her surroundings…feeling no need to move toward anything or anyone.  I’ve got to admit, as much as you tell yourself (and hear from others)...“they’re fine….they’ll move when they’re ready…every child goes at their own speed”...you also begin to wonder if your child really is okay…I mean…you know, just a little.  Then finally, slowly but surely, this past week she decided enough was enough and she began to move….crawling…walking along furniture….and is now anything but content to sit in one spot.  I’m so thankful for a healthy girl and that she is branching out of her little one-spot world.

In the picture she’s pursing her little lips together…and I love, love, love it.  She does this quite often..like it’s her camera face or something.  Just love that little Tava.  She is quite thrilled with her Dada these days and lights up when he walks in the room.  She’s pretty amazed with Truman too even though he still roughs her up once in a while. She’s watching him carefully and he’s still the only one that can make her laugh in just a certain way.

Meanwhile I find myself praying more and more for wisdom in how to point these little ones to our great Savior, so that they too would truly love Him one day.  Honestly, that’s the bottom line.  All of what I do needs to support that goal in some way.  I’m asking God for the ability to weed through the junk that’s just distracting me from the heart of that goal, and give me eyes to see my kids and my responsibility to care for and train them, like He does.

James 1:5 “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”

She is just so beautiful and feminine! I love it. I also have been meaning to tell you that I loved your garden tour! So much that I had Darrin watch it with me…we want to do a garden some day, and I just love yours! We also thought Sam was the perfect and funny tour guide smile

Tawnya,
you are teaching them every day, every minute! (what is that saying, “90% of what kids learn, is caught, not taught”!)  and the most important thing…you are there….with them!  As Deut 5 says, “talk about these things when you sit at home and when you walk along the road”...my translation..“when you are playing legos, and dress-up”!!  In His perfect timing, the opportunity will come!  You’re doing a great job!

I just love what Renee said!  Tawnya your kids are so adorable and you are a wonderful mother to them.  I can’t wait until the next time our whole family can be together to give those sweeties hugs and kisses.

Tawnya,
You are 100% right on that being the bottom line and I so appreciate you reminding me of that. Because honestly, that is everyone who knows and believes in Jesus as Savior’s bottom line. I too need to weed through all that is not pointing to that bottom line. I am so grateful that the Lord has been drawing me to His side and that He has been showing me that it really is true: Our relationship with God inevitably affects our relationships with others, and they will find us fully reliable only when we depend fully on Him. (Jennifer Rothschild) He has proven that true in my life most recently and I have found that I am able to see that bottom line so much better when I am being devoted to Him (versus “doing my devotions”). I am a do-er through and through and I am learning (with several bumps over the head!) to be a be-er instead.
Have a wonderful day in the Lord, dear friend! And thank you again.

Couldn’t have said it any better than Renee.  Funny that I was thinking about this same verse in Deut. but didn’t post before Renee;)
Give them over to the Lord as well, and never cease to pray for them that all seed will take to good soil. God is amazing if we only trust Him.

She’s so beautiful, Tawnya!  I think all good mothers worry that we aren’t doing enough.  But you have some very wise counsel here.  If you are seeking God on it, it means you are open to His direction.  Your blogs are always so uplifting.  Just know that you are touching many, many lives, even when you aren’t aware of it.  I am only recently reminded of all the extended blessings in my life and I love that you are my family!
