Fort’s 50th
It is amazing how quiet things have become around here! We just finished the Labor Day Family Camp yesterday. Most of the staff are off today and spending time with their families after a long, but very good summer.
Like you can imagine, it will not stay quiet for very long! On Thursday we have a retreat group of 150 people coming in. I will be on the schedule for cabin cleaning, kitchen, and program as well. Now that the summer staff are all back at school, a lot of the general camp requirements fall back upon the Missionary Staff. We are not ever short of work variety.
April is still feeling fairly well, relatively speaking. She is experiencing some nauseau from time to time but she has yet to have any serious morning sickness. She read somewhere that the baby has fingernails already! It is so incredible to see the miracle that God is doing in the creation of this new life.
On Sunday, April and I went over to Fort Wilderness to celebrate their 50th anniversary with them. (Fort is the camp that my parents worked at while I was a young boy) As we pulled into the parking lot, April said, “Hey, that looks like your Aunt Gail and Grandma! Wait, it is them!” I was not expecting to see them at the party but they ended up coming! We enjoyed a great time of catching up with people that I have not seen in the past 15 years. Being back at the place I grew up brought back many good memories. It was also very confirming to see that Christian Camping is really where we should be serving!
