Marathon Church Visit

This past Sunday we were able to go worship with friends at Marathon Evangelical Free Church.  It was a great time meeting new people and hanging out with our friends Paul and Amy.  They invited us to help lead worship for the church and it took us back to when we all sang together in college.

Happy Birthday April

This past week has been filled with a number of activities.  The 1st through the 5th of the month we were with my parents in Sandstone.  I was able to take the school portraits for my dad’s school, Harvest Christian.  Since we taught there last year, it was really neat to see many of the kids again.

Right on the heels of our Sandstone trip, we made our way back to the Western part of Wisconsin for the Oak Forest Center Open House.  OFC is owned by Camp Forest Springs and is being developed to be an adult retreat center.  On our way to Frederic, where OFC is located, we stopped at a pumpkin farm to celebrate both April’s 24th as well as Carter’s 10th Birthday.

April and the “Hopkids” with her special birthday card!

Yes, that is really a gigantic pumpkin tower behind us!

One of the coolest things about the pumpkin farm was the pumpkin cannon!  It used compressed air and could launch a pumpkin nearly 2000ft!

Baby’s Heartbeat

What a day it has been!

April and I went about an hour south to the Marshfield Clinic for her first doctor’s appointment.  Up until now it hasn’t seemed very real to me that we are going to be parents.  But when we heard our baby’s heartbeat for the first time, it really hit me!  The little heart was racing at 152 beats per minute!

Everything seems to be normal and on track.  April is due sometime between April 10th and April 13th (depending which health care provider we ask ...)

After we answered all of the family history questions, the midwife performed an ultrasound.  It was incredible to see the baby’s heart pumping and we even saw it move around.

You are even able to see that the baby’s fingers are forming.

Our midwife said that she didn’t think that the baby was sucking its thumb, but it almost looks that way!
