Pizza Anyone?

I finally did it!  Tonight was the first time I actually made a really good pizza from scratch.  I have tried all sorts of ways (deep dish, thin crust…) but nothing seemed to be quite right.  The crust was either gooey in the middle or had risen so big it was out of control!  Well, this time I made an original crust and used my pizza stone.  I baked it at 450 for about 5 min and then pulled it out and quickly decorated it.  We did garlic chicken tonight and it was really good!

Does anyone but me not know how to do the “Robot”?

I would never have guessed that doing that old dance - The Robot - would have ever played into our ministry at Camp!

This evening we led worship for a group from Isanti, MN.  Before we started, they played a game where the leaders would draw a name out of a hat and that person would win a prize.  Great!  Except that the person needed to do a dance in order to actually get the prize.  I really hoped that my name wasn’t in the hat to begin with but when the leader called “Music Leader Guy”, because they couldn’t remember my name, my worst nightmare came true!  So, I had to do the “Robot” just to get a package of pop-rocks!  (It really wasn’t that bad grin)

After the first session, we had a communion service.  Listen to some of these testimonies that were given -

“...I want to go deeper with God…”
“...God has showed me this weekend how I need to depend fully on Him..”
“...I am going to go back to my school and make a difference for Jesus…”

These are coming from kids whose lives are rough.  It was a great reminder as to why we are serving at camp.  We were on the front lines this evening.  We saw the Holy Spirit working in lives.

It was awesome.

Music at Camp

On Wednesday evening, April and I had the privilege of leading 25 or so students in worship.  The group was from Maranatha Academy in Superior, WI (which is right next to Duluth, MN) and they were at camp for an outdoor education retreat.  It turns out that this school had been in the same sports league as Harvest Christian School - the school that my dad is the principal of, that I graduated from, and where April and I worked as we were raising our support.  During my 10th and 11th grade years, Harvest had a basketball team and I can remember going and playing the team from Maranatha.  If my memory serves me, I think that we beat them!

Tomorrow we will again be leading worship for another retreat group at camp.  I am not sure where this one is from but I know that there will be about 45 students present.  It has been neat to be able to use some of our music interests at camp considering that we are there not specifically to do music.  Camp does a good job of bringing out different peoples’ interests and then applying them to the ministry.
