Tonight potentially marks the final evening of the Huffman family of three. With Julie’s induction tomorrow, it is all but a sure thing that by this time tomorrow night, the Huffman family of Rib Lake Wisconsin will be a family of four. Some people might get caught up on the “its their fourth anniversary this, so it has special meaning to add the fourth member of their family right before” or others who might say, they had so much fun with their first, they couldn’t wait to have another play parter for Simon. While all of this might be true, the real reason this dad is so excited about tomorrow, the opportunity to add some more family legacy to the Huffman name.
You see when Julie and I started to think about having children, there was an unstated pressure I think I placed upon myself to have atleast one boy, that way the Huffman name from the lineage of Frank and Jenny Huffman (Washington, Pa) would live on. When Simon was born I could feel that weight removed from my shoulders and could feel a smile from my Pappy, saying good job Matt. Tomorrow, we believe to bring another boy into the world to continue the heritage set before him. Several months ago at the ultrasound we decided this time to find out. When they told us it was a boy, it was like the dance you want to do in the middle of your living room when you see the Green Bay Packers or the Chicago Bears losing. Don’t get me wrong, I would do the same dance if they told us it was a girl but they didn’t.
I blog all this to say that tomorrow, the wait is over. Tomorrow, the 9 months of anticipation and wondering will all come to an end. Tomorrow, the heritage of the Huffman’s continues strong for another generation.
Continuing the Huffman Heritage
