Yesterday was a day off for me and I decided to kick Julie out of the house for the day. It was her day to go where ever she wanted but she wasn’t allowed to stay at home. Deciding to go to Wausau, she left just after breakfast and came home just before supper time. The day was filled with lots of adventures with Simon, Hudson and dad. We built tracks for the train, colored pictures and were going to make cookies. However, after getting everyone in aprons, dragging out all the ingredients and finding a cook book, I discovered we were out of butter. So we made a cake instead. It turned out to be better than the cookies because the boys could watch it being mixed up and once it was in the oven, they could come back and check on it, looking through the glass on the stove to see how it was progressing.
(I also discovered it is harder to take a picture of the three of us without utilizing a timer)
Much more fun to take a picture of the two bakers themselves.
Simon on the other hand, knew exactly what he was getting when he got to lick the spatula. In fact we wanted to lick the bowl and the counter where some had spilled.
The caked turned out great and after a failed attempt to make some frosting, we called Julie to have her pick some up at the store on the way home. Great fun and look forward to more adventures with the Huffman boys.
Hudson didn’t know what to think of licking the spatula until after to realized how good it tasted.
