Random Happenings

The last couple of weeks we have some exciting happenings in the Huffman household beyond the ultrasound.  Two weeks ago we moved Hudson’s crib into Simon’s room so they could start to learn what it would be like to share a room. Let’s just say, instant success.  The boys love being in the same room together. They play in the morning when they wake up and sometimes it is harder to get them to go to bed at night because they are making noises or talking back and forth.

Last Saturday morning I tried to take Simon fishing.  Needless to say after breakfast, buying him a kids pole and license for me and stopping for worms, he wouldn’t even get in the boat. He only wanted to play on the playground.

We went to McDonalds in Medford for pancakes.

Then off to the lake for some big catches.  Maybe Not.

After a trip to the library to get some books and a few minutes on the playground there, we headed for home for lunch.  After lunch, Hudson, Simon and Daddy headed to Marathon Junction down in Wausau to ride the train.  The Marathon Park in Wausau has a little train that you can take kids on that goes in a huge circle a couple times and since the boys love trains right now, I thought it would be a good idea. We ended the trip with a special trip to Simon and Dads favorite store, Menards.  Hudson got his “guys” introduction trip as well and seemed to enjoy all the tools.

Finally, we got the tractor back the other night and Hudson thinks tractors are the greatest. A couple weeks ago he went outside with Julie and sat on the tractor pretending he was driving it for almost 2 hours.  Not sure which will use more gas this summer, dad’s truck or dad’s tractor.

Baby Number 3

In case someone hasn’t seen the announcement or read about it in our recent newsletter, Julie is due with baby number three in October. Last Friday we had our ultrasound and found out that “three lines means it’s a girl.”  So obvious to tell on the boys ultrasound but as easy with the girls apparently.  Julie was and is stoked and I am slowly warming up to the fact.  We really can’t wait and yet so much to be done before October comes.  Let’s just say it is a good thing we painted Hudson’s old room yellow as it makes for an easier transition for a girl.  Now with Simon and Hudson sharing a room (and loving it I might add) the work can be done to get the girls room ready.

Here is the profile picture. Sorry the 3D image they gave us is unfortunately not very good.

Speaks for itself

A trip to Appleton Wisconsin

Concluding a few days of vacation this week, we decided to take the boys down to the Fox Valley area of Wisconsin to visit Julies Grandma and to take the boys to the childrens museum in Appleton.  The boys thought it was awesome and just loved to explore the two floors worth of exhibits.  The next day when I asked Simon if he had a good time the day before, he said he wanted to go back and see Grandma Great and go again to see the huge toys.
We were going to wait to post this picture until later this summer when the garden was done but figured it wouldn’t fool anyone anyway

Easter In Michigan

For Easter this year, the Wisconsin Huffman’s went to Michigan to see family and friends on the other side of Lake Michigan.  It was a long weekend trip but was really worth the time and travel to see the boys hanging out with my sister and brother-in-law and their son Carlos.  They boys really have a good time with Pappa and Grandma too.  This year was Hudson’s first to remember going on a tractor ride and hanging out with Pappa outside at their house.  Between the tractor, the wagon and the three wheeler, they all had a blast.

Each Season Matt’s mom decorates a tree for that particular holiday.  The tree stays up in the dining room and depending on who is home, they get to decorate the tree for that particular holiday.
Simon and Carlos Got to decorate this year for Easter

On Friday, all the boys had the opportunity to decorate Easter eggs out at Pappa and Grandma’s house.  Carlos and Simon seemed to love it.  Hudson only wanted to each them.  And he did, two to be exact.

Saturday was Easter egg hunt day.  In the morning, Matt’s dad and Matt filled the plastic eggs with paper and coins and while the boys were napping the eggs were hidden throughout the yard.  As you can see the boys had a ball tramping through the yard looking for their own color.
Hudson may have enjoyed it the most

Sunday morning church wouldn’t be the same without a couple of new outfits for the boys.  Dare I say they were the two best looking boys in all of Michigan that day?

Where did Spring Go?

It is hard to believe that just a few days ago it was nearly 60 degrees and feeling like spring.  For those of us who know and understand life in the upper Midwest, we are not surprised that the weather has gotten cold again, with lots of rain added to the mix.  Before the change back to the cold, we had a chance to get the boys outside on one of those unseasonable warm days.  Simon asked for a couple days if he could skip his nap and “go outside,” after all, there was huge puddles to splash in.

Simon saw the bubble bottles up on the shelf in the garage and despite having to find one that wasn’t frozen, insisted we blow bubbles for a while

Needless to say he loves the reward for the big climb up the ladder

Here is Simon’s best impression of the lion drinking fountain.  If only we could record the sound to go with it. Scary!
