Well the reality is, we didn’t go anywhere, its where God has been taking us. In a much different direction than we had ever expected. Most people by now know that Matt has gone back to school starting the Monday before Labor Day weekend. Most people don’t realize he has gone back to Culinary Arts school in Appleton, Wisconsin. The goal is to complete the Culinary Arts degree at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin. He is doing the Accelerated Program, which means he has class on Mondays and Wednesday’s from 3:30-9:30 p.m. and takes a class online each semester. The program is designed for students who also work full time. Perfect for Matt to be able to go to school and continue to work at camp.
He leaves for Appleton on Monday mornings and returns late on Wednesday nights. it has been an adjustment for him to be gone but we are slowly getting into the routine of the weekly schedule. Julie’s Aunt and Uncle in Appleton has graciously opened their home for Matt to have a place to stay while he is down at school. This has been a real answer to prayer to help save on expenses.

I know what most people thought when they see the title, crazy would be an understatement. Nine years ago I bought my 1998 Ford F-150 in Michigan. Since then I have made trips all over the upper midwest. From weddings to family reunions and family vacations in between. Starting when Simon was 2 years old, we spent several Sunday afternoons just sitting in the cab, crawling over the seat, listening to the radio and just having fun together. Selling the truck was about as hard for him as it was for me, but the time had come to sell the truck and find something a bit more economical. The night before we sold it, I took Simon for a ride around town. At one point, he told me he thought we needed to get another red truck because red trucks like this one make me happy. So sadly the decision had to be make and so last week and exactly 100,000,miles later, we bid farewell and sold the truck. Now the search begins to find the replacement.

Last week we decided the kids needed a day out of the house and burn up some energy. So we kidnapped our friend Sarah and took the kids to Appleton Wisconsin.

First we met Julie’s grandma at McDonalds for lunch. It is a great place for us to meet up with her as the kids can burn off energy after being in the van for a couple hours and the adults can catch up.

The museum has an actual firetruck and all the gear that the kids can put on and pretend to be a firefighter. Here is Hudson showing off his new look.

The museum also has a golf simulator for kids and since Simon loves to watch golf on tv he wanted to give it a shot.

The museum has a cool water room, where the kids can put on raincoats and play in the water. Even with a raincoat on by the time we left the water room, Alivia was soaked from head to toe.

After the museum, we finished the day with a stop for milkshakes and headed for home. Everyone (with the exception of the driver of course) was asleep within a few miles of town.
