Not your typical October Weather

This week we have already experienced some not so typical weather here in Wisconsin. On Monday we woke up to the white stuff already falling and actually starting to accumulate a little bit.  The boys had to be outside and play in the snow.  So Julie dug out the winter clothes box, found gloves, hats, boots and coats for the boys to be outside.  Here is what the time included:

1. The First Snow Man

2. Just being outside in the snow.

3. Hanging out by the yard decorations and one of the cats.

4. Rides on the sled (Julie said there wasn’t enough snow but the boys proved that to be incorrect)

By the time we came back in from being outside, it was time for naps.  Simon and Hudson slept great and wanted to go back outside when they woke up.

One Week and Counting

Well I guess it’s about time I write a little something about this baby that will be here in about a week.  While Matt posted a picture last week, as a woman I felt it necessary to expand on it and give details and all that stuff that other women like.

So here I am feeling very pregnant (and looking it too I must say).  It’s hard to believe how fast this pregnancy has gone.  It seems like we were just announcing it to everyone back in March, and here we are in October and I am ready to pop!  Overall the whole pregnancy has gone well.  I have felt more tired than with the boys, but that may have something to do with the boys.  Simon is excited to have a little sister.  And to anyone who asks him what her name will be, he is planning on calling her “Fabulous”. (No joke! My brother even got it on tape)

He has been a big help in getting ready for her.  He enjoyed helping to put together the glider rocker that I was given for Mother’s Day this year,  as well as picking out cute things for her, and folding all the burp clothes after we did the “pre-baby” washing.  Hudson on the other hand thinks the idea of a baby is great one moment, and terrible the next. Soon enough we’ll find out how much he actually understands.  But as you can see, I am pretty excited to have a girl.

I can’t claim to have made her crib set, but I did make the mobiles, the curtains, and the butterflies in the frames on the wall.  Her closet and drawers are filled with pink.  And I am anxiously awaiting her arrival. As for Matt’s thoughts on having a girl….well…. I’m not sure it has really set in yet.  But I predict that this little girl will have him wrapped around her little fingers so fast it’s not going to be funny.  And so, unless God chooses to surprise us and give us a boy, we are all planning on and hoping for a girl, and can’t wait to meet her!  We’ll keep you updated as the next week or two unfold, and will announce her arrival as soon as it happens! (within reason of course)

Hudson’s Big Smiles

On Tuesday, Matt had a wisdom tooth pulled and has been out of commission the last couple of days.  Since Wednesday night is usually Awana and we didn’t think it was in Matt’s best interest to be at Awana and recovering, he decided to stay home with Hudson.  Needing to eat soft foods, Hudson and dad made one of Hudson’s favorites, chocolate chip pancakes.  Hudson polished off two whole pancakes and played great the rest of the night.  Matt was able to catch this future Bisquick box cover photo.

First Family Furniture Purchase

The Wisconsin Huffman’s made their first actual purchase of new furniture since we got married almost 6 years ago.  We have gotten furniture over the years second handed or bought used at a garage sale or thrift store.  Several weeks ago, Julie saw a table and chairs she loved and really wanted.  We decided to wait on it until our anniversary in December and look at again.  A week or so ago, I was back in the store and found that they no longer carried that line of furniture and it was no where to be found.  We looked high and low at other stores across the state and no body had any.  So we had resolved to keep looking.  Until last Wednesday.  While in Wausau, I was back in the store picking up a few items for camp and came across the return area that what should I find.  Julie’s new dining room table - discounted greatly because it had been purchased, taken home and then returned.  A phone call to Julie and we were back to the store to pick it up.

The boys were anxious to help me put the table together and couldn’t quite understand why the chairs didn’t come out of the box already put together.  It has been an adventure and we are all loving the new table and chairs.

Third Child Belly Photo

Many of you have been asking for a belly shot of Julie in light of the third child due in a few weeks.
For those of you who have not heard, number three is expected to be a girl.
Name is picked out but never published or announced ahead of time.  So here you go.
