Hudson’s A Week Old

Just an update to throw some more pictures up that Hudson is officially one week old.  He and Julie are doing great and crossing our fingers he will sleep through the night for the fourth night in a row.  He is doing grreat at the three things babies are good at, eating - sleeping and pooping.  It is hard to believe how big he is already and we can’t wait to see what is instore for the next days to come.

Simon is handling it great.  He wants to snuggle with his brother when he hears him and yesterday he got up at 5:00 a.m. and didn’t want a snack or juice, he wanted to come down stairs and make sure Hudson was still “night night” and then we went back to bed himself.  I think he is going to handle being a big brother just fine.

Thanksgiving in Rib Lake

Thanksgiving 2007 will go down in history as eventful!  The celebration for the Tarp side this year was celebrated in Rib Lake, Wisconsin.  With Hudson expected to be born any day, plans were made to move the party to our house.  So Sunday night before Julie was to be induced, Joy and Josh came to watch Simon.  What they didn’t know, they were also bringing a flu bug with them.  Monday, while Julie and I were at the hospital, Josh was at our house, sick.  Jessica and James were back in Platteville, sick and Jennifer and Adam and their two kids were in Montello -  you guessed it….sick.  All planning on being at our house on Wednesday.

Hudson was born on Tuesday, Simon woke up Wednesday morning shooting out both ends and I was heading back to the hospital.  By Wednesday night everyone was at our house feeling much better (24 hour bug) and ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We brought Hudson home on Thursday in time for the Thanksgiving Dinner and to celebrate Christmas with the Tarp Family.  We even had a tree (well sort of a tree with lights) and egg nogg!  It was a lot of fun and it was great to be with family.

Friday - well the bug reared it’s ugly side with Jonathan and Juanita - sick all day!  Simon was slowly recovering and not really sure what to think about all the commotion and the wierd feeling in his stomach.

The whole family was leaving Saturday morning and reality was setting in that we were about to be parents of two in a house all by ourselves.  It felt good and kind of mysterious all at the same time.  We just kind of vegged out on Saturday and I continued working on butchering deer given to us earlier that week.

Sunday we were able to go to church and show Hudson off - unfortunately, by 5:00 p.m. Julie wasn’t feeling the greatest and by 9:00 p.m.  I was making multiple trips to the washroom crashed on one couch and she was crashed on the other.

Like I said - Eventful.  We are both feeling better and really had a great Thanksgiving.  Thanks to all who were a part but next year, lets not Celebrate Thanksgiving in Rib Lake and when a baby is due.

Another First for Simon

Sorry folks no pictures of Simon’s first today and you will understand in a moment.

Last night Simon came down with the 24 hour flu bug floating around the Tarp/Scheele Households.  So this morning when I went to get him out of bed before heading back to Marshfield to go to the hospital, I found Julie’s mom already in the room with a little boy with bodily fluids coming out both ends.  Filled diaper and throwing up.  So today was Simons first experience throwing up and from what I have heard had a few exciting moments.  Needless to say, didn’t want to gross anyone out or make any one sick with pictures of a 16 month old throwing up.

When I got home tonight, he was working on his second piece of toast in a couple hours and had kept down the first, plus a pedialite drink.  So hopefully it is true and it was only a 24 hour bug.  Pray though that Julie doesn’t catch it when she comes home from the hospital tomorrow with Hudson.

Hospital Visitors

Just wanted to post a couple pictures as they show Hudson.

Luke, Mikaela and Trager Hatfield stopped by on Tuesday night.  Hudson is actually waving hello!

Today, the Hopkins Family stopped in to visit and we were able to capture this one with Rebecca and Moriah (and Hudson of course).  Sorry guys you caught him in recovery mode.

Julies dad, Jes Tarp, her brother James, Sister Jessica and Sister in Law Juanita Tarp stopped on their way to our house in Rib Lake where we are all celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow after Julie and Hudson and I get home from the hospital.

We were able to catch a great picture with Julie and Hudson although they had just given him more Tylenol as he was acting very uncomfortable for a while.

Hudson Everett Huffman Arrives -Updated with Pictures

This is the official posting and announcement that Hudson Everett Huffman made his way finally into the world at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday morning.  Details - 8 pounds 2 ounces, 21 inches long.
Mom and baby are doing great and he is nursing great.

My apologies to you all but today was Hudson’s circumcision, so he was very sleepy today and when you tried to take his picture, of course he was usally asleep.  When I got home tonight from the hospital, Simon was feeling better and even eating something (he woke up this morning with the flu bug floating around the Tarp family).  I was showing pictures on the camera of Hudson and Simon wanted to see.  When he saw pictures of Julie and Hudson, he pointed and said “hi.”  Tomorrow he meets his new little brother.

More pictures will be coming as they are made available.
