A Harvest of Good Things- and a bit of mold…

I (meaning my mom mostly and me a little bit) have been busy canning lots of good things this fall.  I haven’t really been in on the pickles, but the kids have and they are AMAzing.  We put up 16 quarts of spaghetti sauce, lots of apricots, some peaches, and we’ve frozen corn, broccoli, green beans and apples.  I’m hoping mom will stick around long enough to help me can venison, which I’ve always wanted to do.

Canning

When I was quartering peppers to fry with onions and puree into the spaghetti sauce, I opened this one pepper that looked great on the outside and whose core was covered with mold.  And I wondered if I’m going to get to the “great beyond” someday only to have God say to the angels, “See here, boys!  Some of em look good on the outside, but they’s filled with black gunk!”  I hope- like me with my pepper- He’s willing to overlook a little mold and use me anyway.
