A Season-Ending Injury

Moriah was the only one playing on a community team this winter. It was her first exposure to basketball and they had fifteen or so 5th grade girls turn out for the team. (Huge!) They didn’t win any games, but we had fun watching two games every Saturday, and we were really proud of the girls for not giving up. Moriah missed the last practice and games on Saturday because she sprained her arm pretty badly in practice. If you could see her on defense, this wouldn’t surprise you. She’s an animal!!! She really enjoyed the season and wants to do it again. Now we have to wait and see if she’ll be able to ski or mush again this winter….

Back to a Normal Schedule…
After a month of erratic schedules, Dave has finally returned to camp full force. He is excited for a season of winter retreats. Just this morning he met with a youth group leader who is here for the weekend with his kids. He loves doing the early Saturday mornings- to share a cup of coffee with leaders and to hear their hopes and struggles they are facing over the weekend. They talk and pray. Though relatively few take him up on his offer, he almost always has one or two folks, and the time is really uplifting.

Winter is actually our busiest (in terms of number of campers) time of year. We will host 6000+ overnight guests during the season. The staff keep up a stiff pace on the weekends hosting groups and running program areas such as skiing (downhill and cross-country), manning the tube runs, Main St. Cafe, The General Store and The Coffee Shop. Others work in the kitchen and work on accomodations keeping everything clean. During the week, we host Fun Days for schools and host Outdoor Education groups from schools. Everyone is spent by March, but the stories of salvations and commitments to Christ keep us going til then.
