Breaking New Ground…

Woodland Community Church, where we have attended for six years, is entering a new chapter of ministry.  Our pastor of ten years was called into the field of local full-time hospice work last fall, so we are searching for a new pastor.  We have also launched a building program to expand our ministry to the community.  It is exciting to watch God unfold the next season for our family of believers!  Carter got to represent the younger generation as he helped to break ground for the project- we were so blessed to glimpse God’s hand in his life and the lives of tomorrow’s church leaders!

The Medford Mush is a weekend short-distance dog mushing race put on by the Medford Trailblazers Club.  Last year was the first year the kids entered, and it was a three-day race.  This year they went down to 2 days.  The race was postponed because we lost so much snow earlier in February- they weren’t sure they would be able to reschedule it, but we got more snow and the race was on.  Dave had already committed to speaking at Ogema Baptist Church that Sunday, so we told the kids they could only race one day.  But wonderful friends of ours kindly offered to take Carter and Moriah back on Sunday.  (Their younger son, Dakota, is the first one pictured- he is actually encouraging Carter’s team- who was just behind him- on to the finish!) The weather was great- snowing and in the teens on Saturday.  We were out at the rodeo grounds all day as John Henry raced for the first time (the 2-dog, 2-mile race) and Moriah (same as JH) and Carter (3-dog, 4-mile race) both improved their times from last year, so we were very pleased.  We even had friends who came out to cheer us on.  It was a great time!

Dinner Theater at CFS

helping backstage-dinner theater 2008

Okay, so this is a bit out of order, but I’m new at this…  For the past three Decembers, camp has produced a dinner theater experience that seats about 100 per night.  I (Rebeccah) have been in the production for those years, and coordinated the banquet service for the meal this past year. (for those of you who check out our photostream to the left, you’ll see that my account is “beverage monkey.” that comes from coordinating the service at the banquets at camp, which I have done for a year and a half now…)  It has been 100% fun and 100% exhausting each year.  I have played “Lucy” from The Peanuts, a bitter, self-centered, materialistic wife (a real stretch…), a Christmas lightbulb, and a chain-smoking landlord. smile  These pics capture some of the fun and crazy pace of putting on the show.  Heather (LTD wife, actress, and make-up artist extraodinaire) is turning Steve into the aged apostle John.
