My First Fish of the Year

Right after work today Seth and I grabbed our fly rods and headed out to the river.  It was a beautiful day as the weather was perfect, the sun was out, there was no wind, and the bugs were hatching.  For any fly fisherman this is a good day.  It was a beautiful quiet evening when when I felt, saw, and heard a trout attack my fly floating lifelessly on the water.  If I were a good fisherman I would have caught the fish the first time.  Four attacks on my fly later I was finally reeling in my first fish of the year.  When you feel the fish fighting on your line it really gets your heart beating.  I was hoping for a big fish and, well, you can see the fish that was on my line.  Not the biggest fish you’ve ever seen, but it was my first catch of the year and I had to keep it to give proof to my lovely wife that I wasn’t just out there standing in the water twiddling my thumbs.  So I brought home my 7” brook trout.  A fish nugget some would say.  Though that was my only catch it was still a beautiful night to be out on the river.

Our Very First Entry Attempt

So this is a blog folks!  (We write that statement partly to inform others that this is a blog, and well, mostly to remind ourselves that this indeed is a mode of communication to post our updates and musings for all to see.)  Lil’ ‘ol Larry and Laura have a website of sorts.  (Much thanks to Jesse for his help!)  Whoever is reading this—-thank you for your interest!  We’ll look forward to posting more, complete with pictures next time!  grin
