Memorial Day Festivities
Memorial Day here in northern Wisconsin started out beautiful. Laura and I slept in after a long weekend at Camp Forest Springs. It was a warm sunny day, so Seth, Suz, Owen, Laura, and I went on a hike on the North Country Trail. Soon into our hike the weather turned for the worse. It started to rain and the temperature dropped about 15 degrees. It was freezing. That’s what you get when you live in the Northwoods in the month of May. We took this picture at a lookout spot on trail. Soon after the picture was taken we headed back to the warmth of our car and enjoyed hot chocolate, home made cookies, and grilled pizza once we got home. We are so looking forward to wearing shorts and not having to wear sweatshirts and wool hats. Soon that day will come.
Project Time with Mom
We have truly appreciated my parent’s encouragement and welcoming us to live with them as we are preparing to transition to camp! I have spent a little quality time with mom making a quilt for our newest niece. Congrats to Tara and Randy and special thanks to mom for her help! (Disclaimer: I don’t consider myself a quilter yet….I am still getting past the thought of cutting fabric apart only to sew it all back together again.)
Freezing at Lake Michigan
This past weekend we had a chance to catch up with friends in Sheboygan, Wisconsin which is right on the shore of Lake Michigan. I thought it would be picturesque to go down to the lake to hang out and relax by the water. We were the only ones there. (At this point, those near the ocean may be thinking—how wonderful!....don’t be deceived…) We were the only ones there because it was bitter cold! As the wind whipped our faces we took a quick pic and headed back to the warmth of the car. Wisconsin will warm up one of these days…
A Glimpse of Our Life…(or inside of a car)
“What have we been up to lately?” many may ask. We have had the privilege of reconnecting with many since moving back to the Midwest. We have spent time with family in Iowa, with friends in Northern Wisconsin as well as friends in the Twin Cities areas. It has been so great to catch up on countless aspects of life—to simply share meals or coffee and hear all that so many dear friends have walked through. It has also been a chance for us to share more about what we will be stepping into at Camp Forest Springs as well as our financial needs. Thank you to so many who welcomed us into their homes and shared bits of life with us. (We look forward to the upcoming wedding on the East coast and a brief chance to see family and friends there.) The driving got a bit long at times…in fact all that we have to show for our journeys is a pic from inside our car…Larry’s a machine when it comes to driving, and, well, I can sleep like a champ in the car. (Praises for safe travels and a reliable car!) So, that’s a glimpse of our life lately…
A Little Bit Older…
April 11 marked Larry’s birthday, so we celebrated with (‘da bomb) a coffee ice cream cake. (The guy is 28…if that makes you feel old or young or indifferent.) He got some new disk golf disks, but it was freezing that day, so we’ll continue to celebrate and play all spring!
