Proposal: Part 6 of 8 - Final idea’s coming together
Lisa is reading her first clue of my scavenger hunt of items I collected during special times together
The pieces to my Lego ring finally arrived that same night. After placing them on the almost completed ring, I looked at it and still wasn’t pleased. I literally started the Lego ring all over again and continued to work on it the 16th and 17th. Finally I came up with something that was totally my creation and special for Lisa.
As I looked ahead to visiting Lisa in Ohio I realized that I will probably get hounded by question after question of, “When are you going to propose?” I thought I could probably handle the questions from her supporters at the church - but surely not the parents. So, with much butterflies in my stomach, I called her parents, knowing that Lisa was not going to be there, and told her dad my plan. I thought it would be wise to tell them so my stay out there would be a little less stressful with that kind of pressure
.
I went that night (March 15th) to Mann Made pizza in Rib Lake where Lisa’s former supervisor (Chris) now works and owns to ask if she and her crew of ladies would like to be a part of the proposal. All the girls there are friends and have worked at camp with Lisa for several years now and I thought it would be special to include them AND to also get there opinion on what meal from Mann Made would Lisa like for this dinner I was planning. Plans were made for Chris, Beth, Lori, and Buffy to be able to be apart of the proposal and Todd and Jim would man the shop.
On Tuesday, March 18, Reanna took me to the airport in Milwaukee that left at 5:40 PM. On the way down Reanna and I talked about my opposing proposal ideas. Somehow the term scavenger hunt came up and that seemed to somehow in my mind make the ideas mesh. We also changed Jesse as a waiter to being a maître d’ and then Reanna would be the waitress. We also figured out the details of the communication between Reanna, Jesse, and everyone on the hill. I was feeling much more calm now about the details of that day.
So on my flight from Milwaukee to Atlanta, then Atlanta to Dayton I felt a little more relaxed and was even able to read a couple chapters out of the book we are reading “Love and Respect” by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. My second flight came into Dayton at 12:15 AM on the 19th were Lisa picked me up.
The whole week Lisa and I were in Ohio was nice and relaxing. With her parents both knowing when the proposal was going to be there was no pressure from them - only a little from Lisa and a few of her supporters. I don’t feel I ever out right lied to Lisa (maybe once or twice
) but there were certainly many, many half truths
- to which I am still apologizing through as I remember them.
At the end of our visit we drove back together all day from her home in Greenville, OH to our homes in Wisconsin on March 24th.

This is great Herbie! I needed a diversion today (I’m waiting for my tutor hour to begin) so I checked your site. I have checked it every-so-often and I had seen the picture of the staff asking the question. It’s so good to get the full story and I am waiting anxiously to read the rest of it! Can you put parts 7 & 8 up at the same time??!! Tell Lisa “Hola y felicidades!” for us! Can’t wait to see you guys in person next month. We want to see the rings too!
Love you guys,
Paul Wilson
