Proposal: Part 1 of 8 - Collection of early dates and memories

Well ladies and gentlemen, if you are about to read all the way through these next few blog posts, you must really like us both:).  What you are about to read is the whole proposal; every nook and cranny detail I can remember. Not to bore you… smile but to preserve it for Lisa and I.  As they say… “To tell our Grandchildren.”

Back to the beginning:
I pretty much knew I wanted to marry Lisa the day (November 19th @ 12:45 PM) she said she was willing to at least go out with me. Nov 28th @ 5:45 PM (15 minutes before The night of the dress rehearsal for the Dinner Theater) was the day she said she was “Ready” to date.

I don’t know the exact date Lisa and I were in Medford - but it was early on that I wanted to see the value of some savings bonds that family had taken out in my name when I was young. One of them was from my mom and I cashed that one in to buy a gift (special phone to aid Lisa better with her hearing impairment) for her birthday. The other was from my Great Aunt Elsie.  She has passed away since, but she took out a $500 savings bond in my name the day I was born - 1973.  I found out its’ value and I knew it was certainly enough to purchase a ring.

Well as time went on we spent a lot of time together, getting to know each other; our likes and dislikes, personalities, and creating memories.  Along the way I would keep bits and pieces of the things that would remind me of our dates; a piece of an apron (one I had her cut up - to signify she didn’t have to cook that night), a buffalo wild wings receipt, a post-it note with Happy Birthday Lisa on it, movie ticket stubs to “Vantage Point” where she took ME on a date after going to Texas Road house.  I knew I wanted to do something special with them sometime but not exactly for what yet.

Early on Lisa and I talked about being honest with each other - to the extent that if there was a “surprise” anything party being planned and if we wanted to know - we had one chance to respond with the buffer zone question, “Do you really want to know?”  If the response was “Yes” we would just say it.  Most of the time we would not fully use this privilege between us knowing that it is fun to surprise the other.

Since Lisa and I only have two pictures of us while we were dating (I know, its sad red face  ) I’ll share pictures of the actual proposal day through out these proposal blogs: Enjoy!

Please feel free to comment on each of these blogs - they certainly are an encouragement to Lisa and I. cheese

I am so happy for the two of you. I have really wished over the years that I could see you again. You are the one true friend that I feel I made while at college. You are a very special person and it sounds like she is the same. I am so glad god brought the two of you together. Please let me know when the wedding is and where. I am not asking to be invited because I don’t know that I would make it. But I would like to remember the day for years to come. Again I am so happy for you Mike. God’s Blessing to the both of you.

Debra
