Meet Bauer!

Everyone… meet Bauer. I can’t claim him as my own. No, he’s Lisa’s little over a year old Australian Shepherd/Lab
. She’s had him since a puppy as you can see and has gotten quite attached to him. Now me, I grew up with lots of dogs… and cats, and horses, and sheep, and goats, and cows, and even a lama. However, none of them were ever indoor animals. Bauer and me, well… we are learning to “bond”
. I’m not so used to the extra hair around my place… other than that which I lose my self
. But, all in all, we are getting along. You could say it is a “package deal” (i.e. Like me? ... like my dog). I’ve had the opportunity now to dog sit a couple of times and it hasn’t been too bad. I can see why they say if you own a pet you tend to live longer and happier – they are just funny and you certainly have something to always talk about.
Ice Beard

CAUTION: don’t look too close
Only in the upper mid-west will people go and have fun at 9 degrees below zero. This past week was our annual Winter Family Camp. We had the opportunity to serve 112 campers. On one of the nights (when it was REALLY cold) I had the opportunity to actually have some play time on our hill. For some reason no one wanted to brave the cold for lessons
. So I had some fun doing “jumps” off our quarter pipe with another camper – Sam (HI Sam
). Well anyway, about the beard… Jesse Schutt was supervising the hill that night and also supervising the progress of the frost appearing on my face. Then it became the activity of the night to see how well I could grow my newly found beard. Let me tell you… it was cold. What you see on my face is what was left from the walk back across the lake (some melted along the way).
Wedding Day!

Made you Look
.
On 2/2/2008 at 2:02 PM. (Groundhogs Day) a couple had the audacity to skip out on my annual Groundhogs Day movie night. OK, OK… it was for a good reason. Jake Andersen (staff at CFS: Program Associate) and Leah Bender (many times a summer staff at CFS) were married that day. Lisa and I had the pleasure of attending a wedding together. We found it so exciting to FINALLY be able to RSVP on ONE card as opposed to TWO
! Lisa was impressed that the wedding took only a half an hour. In her words “Get in… get out… and done”
. BTW, she said that repeatedly. Congratulations Jake and Leah!
